  • The course begins at 4.45pm with a welcome meeting, cup of tea and homemade cake. This is followed by a vocal warm-up and technique session for all the group. Before relaxing for the evening to enjoying their freshly prepared dinner and a glass of wine the participants have the opportunity to sing in a private ‘informal performance’.

TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY: each day students receive -

  • a group vocal warm up
  • a 30 minute singing lesson with Wilma
  • a 30 minute coaching session with our vocal coach
  • a vocal masterclass (students have the opportunity to participate in 2 masterclasses over the course of the week)
There is an informal private performance on WEDNESDAY evening and a concert on THURSDAY evening.

There will be opportunities and facilities for private practice throughout the day, as well as some separate coaching times available to rehearse any duets, trios etc, if they wish.

FRIDAY:

The day starts with the group vocal warm up followed by a masterclass and then the final performance class.

THE COURSE FINISHES on Friday at 2pm after lunch.

PERFORMANCE PLATFORMS AND REPERTOIRE -
  • Over the course of the week your performance platforms are:
  • a welcoming informal performance on Monday night
  • the informal performance on Wednesday night,
  • the formal concert on Thursday night
  • and the final performance class on Friday morning (eg a light-hearted piece)
Repertoire suggested for the above:
You require one solo song or duet for each of the performing opportunities above (but you can choose to use do the same piece twice or more, which enables you to consolidate the work taught in lesson and/or coaching).

We advise bringing repertoire which you are familiar with or have memorised (eg this could be something as simple as a folk song you know, 17th/18th Century Italian aria, Lied, French song, English art song or musical theatre song).

Please bring the original music and also two copies (for rehearsal purposes only) i.e. 3 copies in total. There are no photocopying facilities on the course.

"I am delighted to wholeheartedly recommend the 'VI experience' as being both highly effective and great fun. The individual Masterclasses were the highlight for me and I was particularly impressed at the encouraging and supportive manner in which you managed to draw out unsuspected talent from all levels of singer from near
beginners to the more experienced."
DW

“The course was 'life changing' brilliant and I hope to return next year if I have the energy. Had many light bulb moments from Wilma. Her highly professional and accessible approach to singing technique put me in a better place. A brilliant teacher.”
